All the beauty that this island has to offer is mainly because of this incredibly beautiful and high mountain that creates the contrast between sea and land in a very sort distance.
It is the smallest National Park in Greece and was established as such on 1962 to protect the very rare tree locally known as “Elati” or correctly named “Abies Cefalonica Loudon”.
The park feels like paradise on earth and part of it is rare wild life such as wild horses and species close to distinction.
You will definitely by very lucky if getting a far view of the wild horses traveling around their natural habitat.
Once you make the effort to reach the top of the mountain, you will come to face on of the most breath taking, all around views you will ever see.
